Privacy Policy

What this site collects, why, who handles it, and how to get it changed or deleted. Short version: I collect what I need to run calls and send the emails you asked for. I don't sell anything about you.

Who runs this site

Not Your Sensei is a one-person business run under a pen name from Tokyo, Japan. Questions about your data go to contact@notyoursensei.com. If you need the operator's legal name and address for a privacy request, ask at that address and I'll provide them.

Browse the sitePages viewed, buttons clicked, how far you scroll, device and browser, rough location (country or city), and which quiz path you gotTo see which pages help people and fix the ones that don't

Your individual quiz answers stay in your browser. The site only records that the quiz was started or finished and which path it suggested, not what you answered.

Services that handle your data

These companies process data for the site. Each has its own privacy policy, and some store data outside Japan, including in the United States.

Cookies

Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and the Spotify player use cookies. The site itself only keeps one small note in your browser (that you finished the quiz), and it's cleared when you close the tab. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site still works. Google also offers an opt-out add-on for Google Analytics.

What I don't do

How long I keep it

Booking and payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Email list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept as long as they're useful for helping you. Analytics data is kept by Google and Microsoft under their own retention settings.

Your choices

Some records, like payment records, may have to be kept for a while to meet legal requirements. I'll tell you if that applies.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Big changes will also go out to the email list.
